FIVE BLOGS THAT MAKE ME THINK

Peter Nellhaus has tagged me for the THINKING BLOGGER AWARD.
http://www.coffeecoffeeandmorecoffee.com/archives/2007/06/tagged.html#more

Here is the logo.

Here is the link that started it all.
http://www.thethinkingblog.com/2007/02/thinking-blogger-awards_11.html

Should you choose to participate, please make sure you pass this list of rules to the blogs you are tagging.

The participation rules are simple:

1.If, and only if, you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think,

2.Link to the post above so that people can easily find the exact origin of the meme,

3. Optional: Proudly display the 'Thinking Blogger Award' with a link to
the post that you wrote .
--------------------------------------

So now it’s my turn to list the five blogs that make me think. I think that most of my regularly-read English blogs have been tagged already. So I choose only two English blogs and three Thai blogs for my list.

FIVE BLOGS THAT MAKE ME THINK

1.MEMORIES OF THE FUTURE by Jesse Ataide
http://memoriesofthefuture.wordpress.com/
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/vine/journal_view.php?username=Othello

Jesse has a writing style which is very friendly and charming. I got inspired by many of his posts, such as the posts about Alain Resnais, Agnes Varda, or Nina Simone. One of his posts that I like very much is the one which compares Martha Stewart in IN A LONELY PLACE (1950, Nicholas Ray) with Mia Kirshner in THE BLACK DAHLIA (2006, Brian de Palma).

Jesse and I learned about each other’s blog via Girish Shambu. So I have to thank Girish very much about it.

2.SUPPOSED AURA by Mubarak Ali

How can I resist a blog which comments on

2.1 Philippe Grandrieux
http://supposedaura.blogspot.com/2006/02/la-vie-nouvelle-philippe-grandrieux.html

2.2 Matthias Mueller
http://supposedaura.blogspot.com/2007/05/sing-body-electric.html

2.3 Juergen Reble

2.4 Werner Schroeter

2.5 Jackie Raynal
http://supposedaura.blogspot.com/2006/12/regular-phantoms.html

2.6 Michael Almereyda
http://supposedaura.blogspot.com/2006/01/almereydas-nadja-and-other-things.html

2.10 Sara Driver
http://supposedaura.blogspot.com/2007/06/scenes-from-parallel-life.html

I haven’t seen any films by Raynal, Jancso, and Driver, but I’m always curious about these filmmakers, and Mubarak’s blog is just what I need.

3.FILMSICK (Thai blog)
http://filmsick.exteen.com/

FILMSICK’s blog might be one of my most favorite blogs in the world. Filmsick is a pharmacist by day, a cinephile by night. He is an expert in Rainer Werner Fassbinder, John Waters, Aki Kaurismaki, Wim Wenders, Hong Kong films, horrors, and cult films. He is very politically-minded, loves freedom and justice, and very romantic. Sometimes I think he has 20 eyes, not just two eyes, because he seems to notice many things that I don’t notice in a film. His posts that I like very much include:

3.1 AFTERNOON TIME (Tossaphol Boonsinsukh)
http://filmsick.exteen.com/20070122/afternoon-time

3.2 CELINE AND JULIE GO BOATING (Jacques Rivette)
http://filmsick.exteen.com/20070318/celine-and-julie-go-boating

3.3 DISTANT VOICES, STILL LIVES (Terence Davies)
http://filmsick.exteen.com/20061220/distant-voices-still-lives

3.4 EDEN AND AFTER (Alain Robbe-Grillet)
http://filmsick.exteen.com/20070130/eden-and-after

3.5 FEAR OF FEAR (Rainer Werner Fassbinder)
http://filmsick.exteen.com/20061202/fear-of-fear

3.6 INDIA SONG (Marguerite Duras)
http://filmsick.exteen.com/20070115/india-song

3.7 THE MATCH FACTORY GIRL (Aki Kaurismaki)
http://filmsick.exteen.com/20050909/the-match-factory-girl

3.8 OUT OF PLACE: MEMORIES OF EDWARD SAID (Makoto Sato)
http://filmsick.exteen.com/20060221/my-bkiff-2006-part-1

3.9 PUNISHMENT PARK (Peter Watkins)
http://filmsick.exteen.com/20060504/punishment-park-1

3.10 THE STICKY FINGERS OF TIME (Hilary Brougher)
http://filmsick.exteen.com/20050909/the-sticky-fingers-of-time

4.RIVERDALE (Thai blog)
http://riverdale-dreams.blogspot.com/

Riverdale is a career film critic. He often finds faults which I have overlooked in a movie. I learn to notice some insincere things in many films by reading his reviews. He also writes about gender and gay issues. His posts that I like very much include:

4.1 BEYOND OUR KEN
http://riverdale-dreams.blogspot.com/2006/10/beyond-our-ken.html

4.2 THE DREAMLIFE OF ANGELS
http://riverdale-dreams.blogspot.com/2007/06/dreamlife-of-angels.html

4.3 NORTH COUNTRY
http://riverdale-dreams.blogspot.com/2006/08/north-country.html

4.4 SAVING PRIVATE TOOTSIE
http://riverdale-dreams.blogspot.com/2007/06/blog-post_3366.html

4.5 TRICK
http://riverdale-dreams.blogspot.com/2007/06/trick.html

5. MERVEILLESXX (Thai blog)
http://merveillesxx.bloggang.com/

I can’t access his blog right now. I hope his blog will be back soon.

Merveillesxx is an economist who is also an expert in Ayumi Hamasaki and in decoding symbols in Ayumi Hamasaki’s music videos (!?!). He loves Japanese films, pop music, and reading. He loves going to concerts and clubs. He likes to write about his life from time to time. He wrote about many films in film festivals. His blog is very popular.

I intended to link to some articles in his blog, but since I can’t access his blog right now, I have to cancel my plan.

----------------------------------------------

Inspired by Jesse Ataide, I think I should post some photos from two movies together.

INTERIORS (1978, Woody Allen, A-)

WOMEN IN THE MIRROR (2002, Yoshishige Yoshida, A+)
