Favorite Lyrics 4: WALK AWAY -- Dia Frampton

Favorite Lyrics 4: WALK AWAY -- Dia Frampton

Thanks to Theeraphat Ngathong for telling us about this song.

The story behind this song reminds me of the film SECRET DÉFENSE (1998, Jacques Rivette, A+30). It also reminds me of the story of rape and revenge in the song ME AND A GUN (Tori Amos) and in the biography of Tura Satana.

Dia Frampton
------------------------------------
"Walk Away"
I wrote this song about a girl who was "given" to her father's friends for entertainment at the ripe age of eight. Yes, true story. However, for the sake of her discretion, I won't say any more. It made me very upset to hear the story, but even more upset to hear the ending. She never got any revenge, so I wanted to give it to her. In this song, she's going back to get 'em!

ME AND A GUN

Tura Satana
"Walking home from school at the age of nine she was gang raped by five men. According to Satana, her attackers were never prosecuted and it was rumored that the judge had been paid off.[2] She tells how this prompted her to learn themartial arts of aikido and karate and, over the next 15 years, track down each rapist and exact revenge.[3] "I made a vow to myself that I would someday, somehow get even with all of them", she said years later. "They never knew who I was until I told them."[3]
