Favorite quote from Guy Debord:
"THE SPECTACLE IS NOT A COLLECTION OF IMAGES, BUT A SOCIAL RELATION AMONG PEOPLE, MEDIATED BY IMAGES."
I don't understand Guy Debord. THE SOCIETY OF THE SPECTACLE (1973, Guy Debord) is the most difficult film I have ever seen in my whole life. However, his quote above unintentionally makes me think about the film DEVELOP BLESSING GIANT DHAMMA IN 3 WORLDS: I'M GONNA BE A NAIVE เจริญพรมหาธรรมใน 3 โลก: ฉันจะเป็นชาวนาอีฟ (2012, Viriyaporn Boonprasert, 24min, A+30), which presents us many popular images in Thai society in a very intriguing way. The images in this film include the ones from the reality show I'M GONNA BE A FARMER by Siriyakorn Pukkaves and the ones from an Isuzu advertisement promoting the idea of self-sufficiency. The collection of images in DEVELOP BLESSING GIANT DHAMMA IN 3 WORLDS: I'M GONNA BE A NAIVE makes us think about social relations among people in Thai society, and makes us wonder whether the Thai middle-class people really understand the poor people of Thailand or not.
One of the advertisements portrayed in DEVELOP BLESSING GIANT DHAMMA IN 3 WORLDS: I'M GONNA BE A NAIVE:
SOCIETY OF THE SPECTACLE
