This song is very beautiful and now i know that LaFace records (the music company created by Babyface and LA Ried) really love this kind of voice. I think Pebbles voice is very similar to Shanice Wilson (or Shanice) an they are all in the same record company. LaFace is so interesting because they have both the soprano singer like Pebbles and Shanice but the first lady of this company is the alto singer like Toni Braxton. You can listen Shanice-Babyface 's version of Toni Braxton Breathe Again here.

I think i m familiar with the name Pebble so i search in wiki and found out many interesting story about Her. Actually Pebbles is La Reid's wife from 1990-1996. She even had her own record label which created TLC. She also was the manager of TLC too.

Pebbles also has a cousin which is a singer too. Her name is Cherrelle. I knew her because Mariah Carey covered her song for the Glitter movie. Her album was produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. I'm sure you will like this song.

Mariah's version - it's nearly the same version except that she put her signature whistle in the middle part.

I think the Glitter soundtrack is very interesting. Altough people said the film is bad, i tink the soundtrack is very good because it's produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and since the movie took place aroung 80s club scene, Jimmy Jamm and Terry chose some of their own produced song and remade for Mariah.

These are the interesting original song before Mariah covered them.

Candy by cameo (Mariah version is Loverboy)

--I also like the music video of LOVE MAKES THINGS HAPPEN very much. I had never seen its mv before until a few days ago. If I understand it correctly, I think it has a very interesting narrative structure, because it starts with

1.BOY A and GIRL A are married with kids.

2.BOY A meets GIRL B in a train, and went to have a dinner together.

3.GIRL B met BOY B in the restaurant, and went to see a show together.

4.BOY B likes GIRL C, who was the show performer, and they are in a car together.

5.GIRL C likes BOY C, who works in a garage, and they ride a motorcycle together.

6.BOY C meets GIRL A at her house, and they go to see a film together.

7.GIRL A meets BOY A in the cinema.

--My most favorite song of Pebbles is WHY DO I BELIEVE

--I like Shanice very much. I'm glad to hear her high voice at the end of BREATHE AGAIN.

--Thank you for the links to I DIDN'T MEAN TO TURN YOU ON. I like this MV of Cherelle very much. It is very funny. I also worship another song by Cherelle. It's called AFFAIR.

--I like the MV of Candy by Cameo very much. The fashion in this MV is ultimate 1980's. It brings back memories of some films during that era, such as THE SECRET OF MY SUCCESS (1987, Herbert Ross). I also like the dress of the singer of LAST NIGHT A DJ SAVED MY LIFE.

--I still haven't seen GLITTER yet. Talking about songs of the 1980's, I think about the soundtrack of ROMY AND MICHELE'S HIGH SCHOOL REUNION (1997, David Mirkin, A+).

Pebbles's Why Do I Believe is so amazing. The melody and arrangement is very delicate and the way she sings is like she s really believe in her love.

About Romy and Michelle, i really like the movie and they way they use the song. Though i watched it long time ago i still remembered that they danced with Time After Time on the climax and when the helicopter came at the end of the film, Belinda Carlise 's Heaven Is A Place On Earth came too.

Thank you for the link to DON'T GET ME WRONG. I like the voice of Chrissie Hynde, too. I also like her songs STATE OF INDEPENDENCE and I'LL STAND BY YOU. I don't like Jane Austen's novels, but I think her stories are fit for many pop music videos, because most pop songs are about love. It would be more difficult to make a pop music video out of Charles Dicken's stories about poverty, or out of a novel like MOBY DICK or TESS OF THE D'URBERVILLES. Hahaha.

i always remember 6 years ago when The Pretenders had concert in Thailand and i had a chance to watch it. (The reason i remember is because i was warned by my boss of that time about my responsibility because i hadnt finished my works but wanted to go to concert so much). By the way, Chrissie said to the audience that she wrote "I'll Stand By You" for animals. She is vegetarian and animal rights campaigner so she sang this song as an encore and wanted everybody to protect the animal's right. It 's so shocking to me because i always thought that this song is a love song for human but the way she shout about the animal rights with rock star voice made me more love her. : )

I didn't know that I'LL STAND BY YOU is about animals. This case makes me think about the song MIRACLE by Whitney Houston, because I hadn't known at first that this song is an anti-abortion song or something like that.
