THE RIPPLE (2012, Chumpon Utayophat, A+30)

This art exhibition is held at Jamjuree Art Gallery until February 21, 2012. I like this exhibition very much, because some wood carving works in this exhibition make me feel extremely calm. It seems as if some wood carving works in this exhibition possess the power of tranquility, and I'm completely overwhelmed by it. My most favorite work in this exhibition is the wood table called RIPPLES AND LAND NO.1 (2011). Looking at this table makes me feel like meditating.

I love these photographs. Robillard shot some photos of garlic plant, but made them look like photos of ancient human bones. This series of photographs reminds me that some parts of “history lessons” are only based on assumptions, not fact or truth. When we first see these photos, we assume that we see ancient human bones, and try to guess about the lives of these men who lived a thousand years ago. But in fact we just see only photos of garlic plant.

At first I thought it was just a discarded wood board, but when I had a closer look, I found that it was a painting.

NAKED BEYOND SKIN (Xiang Jing, China, A+)

The exhibition NAKED BEYOND SKIN by Xiang Jing from Shanghai was held at Tang Contemporary Art in Silom Galleria from May 15-June 7. I like it very much. I particularly like the hands and feet of these sculptures.

THINGS EXPERIENCED IN MARCH 2008

I just knew from THE EVENING CLASS’ blog that KITCHEN (2005, Alice Winocour, A+) will be widely distributed. I like this short film very much. It stars Elina Lowensohn, the leading actress of SOMBRE (1998, Philippe Grandrieux, A+++++) and AMATEUR (1994, Hal Hartley, A+). Don’t miss this film. The trouble of a woman in a kitchen in this film makes me think it should be played together with BLOW UP MY TOWN (1968, Chantal Akerman, A+++++).
