I hope to see your #1 film at the upcoming San Francisco International Film Festival. It will be only my second Depardon film, after Profiles Farmers: Daily Life.

I’m very glad you will have a chance to see this wonderful film. About Depardon’s films, I also saw CAUGHT IN THE ACTS (1994) and THE TENTH DISTRICT COURT (2004). These three films seem to use the simplest method of filmmaking—just a camera to record some real people’s talking, but these films somehow reveal so much about our societies and their problems, and especially in the case of MODERN LIFE, the souls of the interviewees, the spirits of human beings. I hope someone organize a retrospective of Raymond Depardon and Volker Koepp, another great documentarian who can capture the souls of the interviewees and the souls of the places with his camera.
