--KAZUYOSHI ANDO AND KGB KUMHWOY is a very funny film, and not too sadistic as some other films by Nathan Homsup + Dhan Lhaow. Before I saw this film, I didn’t like the song I BELIEVE I CAN FLY at all. But this film uses this song in a very funny way, and can turn this boring song into a memorable song for me.

Other things I like in this film:

--two university students clapping their hands to kill the time

--some supporting characters make different choices from one another. I like films whose supporting characters are different from one another like this.

--the creative technique used to present a character being run over by a car

--The topic of this film, which is about “rubnong”, or the tradition in which senior students bully freshmen very cruelly. I hate this tradition very much, and think that it should be abolished long time ago.

Talking about this tradition reminds me of my favorite scene in DOMINO (2005, Tony Scott, A+), in which Domino fights the senior girl in the dorm who bullies her.

--I love the ending of this film. I’m not sure what the ending means, but it makes me think about the fact that everyone is different and has many problems of his own. Some people have too many problems in their lives already, and should not be bullied by others or should not be pressured to observe some nonsensical traditions like this. Some people say that this tradition helps cause unity among students. I think it may be true for only some students, but it can be harmful to other students at the same time. As for me, this tradition didn’t help make me like anyone in my class at all. I like some friends in my class, because these friends are good, not because some people force me to like these friends. This tradition only makes me strongly hate the society which believes in it.
