POLL 40: WHO CAN KILL A CHILD?

POLL 40: WHO CAN KILL A CHILD?

My poll 40 is at first inspired by THE HEADLESS WOMAN (2008, Lucrecia Martel, Argentina), in which a woman accidentally kills a boy. However, I decided not to include THE HEADLESS WOMAN in this poll because I’m not sure if the murdered boy in the film is a little boy or a teenager. We never see the corpse in this film.

Talking about the killing of children also makes me think about the hurting of innocent people and the recent events in Thailand and Mumbai, in which many innocent people were troubled or killed. I feel very bad about the incidents in Thailand. Why did many innocent tourists, including the little children of these tourists, and some Thai people have to suffer because of the PAD terrorists? Why are the PAD terrorists supported by many Thai people? Why do many Thai people support the troubling of innocent people? Why do many Thai people do evil things and believe they do good things?

Who can kill a child? Many characters in the following films can. Who can hurt innocent people? The PAD terrorists and their Thai supporters can.

An interesting question: if parents take their small children to participate in an evil mob, and they are killed by the police who have to stop the mob, whose fault will it be for the deaths of these small children? The police? Or actually the parents?

19.SURIYOTHAI (2001, Chatrichalerm Yukol, Thailand)
An innocent child is executed in a scene in this film, though he has done nothing wrong. A lady (Patamawan Kaomulkadee) tries to prevent the execution, but she fails. What is interesting is what Suriyothai says in this scene.

20.UNINVITED (2003, Lee Su-yeon, South Korea)

Thanks for your votes, Merveillesxx. I think THE SON and LET THE RIGHT ONE IN are very different than the rest, because THE SON is very sympathetic to the child murderer, while LET THE RIGHT ONE IN is one of very few films in which the child murder is justified. In most films, children are innocent, so the killing of children is an evil act. But in LET THE RIGHT ONE IN, the murdered children are evil, and the murder is done in order to save the hero.
