SERIOUS AS PLEASURE (1975, Robert Benayoun, France, A++++++++++)

1.กาม (A+++++)

POLL 55: FILM CRITICS AS FILMMAKERS
My poll 55 is inspired by SERIOUS AS PLEASURE, which is directed by a film critic called Robert Benayoun. I love this film very much. It made me laugh a lot. I also found Benayoun's writing in the book POSITIF 50 YEARS. This book has Benayoun's articles about Jerry Lewis and IN THE REALM OF THE SENSES.
(Thanks to Zach for helping me with Benayoun's film.)
Because of SERIOUS AS PLEASURE, I think I should make a poll about favorite films made by film critics. This poll includes only films I have seen.
THESE FILMS ARE MADE BY FILM CRITICS. WHICH FILMS DO YOU LIKE?
1.LE COEUR DES HOMMES (FRENCHMEN) (2003, Marc Esposito, France)
2.THE COMFORT OF STRANGERS (1990, Paul Schrader)
3.THE CONVERT (2008, Panu Aree + Kong Rithdee + Kaweenipon Ketprasit, Thailand)

11.PIPOP BUNTOON (พิภพบรรฑูรย์) (2001, Utis Haymamool, Thailand)

--Actually in the title DON'T USE MICROWAVE TO WARM EGGS OR ELSE THEY WILL EXPLODE! the word "MICROWAVE" here should be spelled as MICOWAVE to truly correspond with the Thai title of this film. The Thai title of this film intentionally uses the word MICOWAVE instead of MICROWAVE. I guess it is because the Thai title of this film comes from a sentence someone once said to Tossapol, and Tossapol thought that that sentence conveyed the love, care, and warmth, so he used that sentence as the title of this film. I guess the person who said this sentence didn't pronounce the "r" sound when he/she said it, because that's what many Thai people do when they speak colloquially, so there's no "r" in the word MICOWAVE in the Thai title of this film. What's important in the title of this film is not the "meaning" of the sentence, but the intimate feelings between the speaker and the listener. So the grammatical correctness is not important here. What is more important here is the informal nature of the sentence to indicate how close the speaker and the listener are. That's why I think I should have spelled MICOWAVE in the English title of this film.
Another film title which may be compared to this case is THE PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS (2006, Gabriele Muccino, A), because the grammatical error here is intentional and has some meanings in it.
--I like the meaning of LIFE AS A FATAL SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASE, because it reflects the truth about life. Our lives begin when our mother and father have sexual intercourse, thus life is a sexually transmitted disease. Everyone must die one day, thus life is fatal.
--Reverse Shot at Indie Wire's blog imagined that JEANNE DIELMAN PART 2 should be titled "WHORES IN PRISON" and he described Delphine Seyrig as box-office queen. Hahaha

--Though I pay attention to beautiful film titles in this poll, I want to add that great films don't have to have unique, strange titles. Great films which have simple titles include:
1.IF... (1968, Lindsay Anderson)
2.OR (2004, Keren Yedaya, Israel)
Or is the name of the heroine here.
3.AND THEN (1985, Yoshimitsu Morita)
4.TRASH (1970, Paul Morrissey)
5.HEAT (1972, Paul Morrissey)
--A group of film titles which I find interesting is the film title which uses the name of a minor character in the film, instead of a major character. These film titles include
1.OSCAR (1991, John Landis)
2.NATHALIE GRANGER (1972, Marguerite Duras)
--In the DVD of SHORT NIGHT OF THE GLASS DOLLS (1971, Aldo Lado), there is an interview in which someone explains how the title of this film came about. I think it is interesting because I didn't understand the title of this film at first, but the interviewee explains that the original title of this film isn't like this, but they didn't use the original title of this film because it is too much alike the title of another film at that time. So they kept changing the title of this film until it came to this one.
--I think that West German films have very interesting film titles. I want to see many West German films just because I like their titles. This is my film wish list for West German films with interesting titles:
1.DISORDER AND EARLY SORROW (1976, Franz Seitz)
This film is adapted from Thomas Mann's novel.
2.EVENINGS WHEN THE HEATHER DREAMS (1952, Paul Martin)
3.EYES DO NOT WANT TO CLOSE AT ALL TIMES, OR, PERHAPS ONE DAY ROME WILL ALLOW HERSELF TO CHOOSE IN HER TURN (1970, Jean-Marie Straub + Daniele Huillet)

5.I LOVE YOU, I KILL YOU (1970, Uwe Brandner)
6.I SLEEP WITH MY MURDERER (1970, Wolfgang Becker)

8.LIFE IS INSANITY (1978, Petra Haffter)
9.LOVE IS THE BEGINNING OF ALL TERROR (1983, Helke Sander)
Ratchapoom Boonbunchachoke just told me that you can watch the dvd of this film with English subtitles at the library of the Goethe Institute, Bangkok. The library has the dvd boxset of Helke Sander's films, and also the dvd of AFTERNOON (2007, Angela Schanelec).
10.MARIE WARD – BETWEEN GALLOWS AND GLORY (1985, Angelika Weber)
11.MEN ARE THERE TO BE LOVED (1969, Eckhardt Schmidt)

20.WHAT WILL WE DO WITHOUT DEATH? (1980, Elfi Mikesch)

--This is my wish list for films I want to see because of their interesting titles:
1.THE END OF THE WORLD IN OUR USUAL BED IN A NIGHT FULL OF RAIN (1978, Lina Wertmuller, Italy)
2.GIRLS WITHOUT TOMORROW (1988, Hong Kong)
It stars Maggie Cheung and deals with five prostitutes. If I remember it correctly, the Thai title of this film is พรุ่งนี้สวรรค์ช่วย (TOMORROW HEAVEN WILL HELP).
3.HER NAME IS VENICE UNDER CALCUTTA DESERT (1976, Marguerite Duras)
4.IT'S BETTER TO BE WEALTHY AND HEALTHY THAN POOR AND ILL (1992, Juraj Jakubisko, Czech)
5.IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO LEARN TO PLOW BY READING BOOKS (1988, Richard Linklater, USA)
6.I WAS, I AM, I SHALL BE (1974, Walter Heynowski + Gerhard Scheumann)
7.JONAH WHO WILL BE 25 IN THE YEAR 2000 (1976, Alain Tanner, Switzerland)
Synopsis from imdb.com:
" The European equivalent of "The Return of the Secaucus 7," this Swiss film looks at the lives of several men and women in their 30s as they confront the slim gains of the "revolutionary" sixties. Max, a dissatisfied copy editor; Myriam, a redhead into tantric sex; and Marie, a supermarket checker who gives unauthorized discounts to the elderly, search for renewed meaning on a communal farm. The title character, a six-year-old child, is the carrier of their hopes for the future"
7.THE KEY TO DETERMINING DWARFS, OR THE LAST VOYAGE OF LEMUEL GULLIVER (2003, Martin Sulik, Czech)
8.LAST IMAGES OF THE SHIPWRECK (1959, Eliseo Subiela, Argentina)
9.A LOVELY WAY TO DIE (1968, David Lowell Rich, USA)
10.THE OPTIMISTS OF NINE ELMS (1973, Anthony Simmons, UK)
11.RAINWATER, DEW, HOT WATER (น้ำฝน, น้ำค้าง, น้ำร้อน)
This is the Thai title of a Hong Kong film. If I remember it correctly, that Hong Kong film is SUN, MOON, AND STAR (1988, Michael Mak), which stars Maggie Cheung, Cherie Chung (จงฉู่หง), and Dodo Cheng (เจิ้งอวี้หลิง).
12.REMEMBRANCE OF THINGS TO COME (2001, Yannick Bellon + Chris Marker)

Max, a dissatisfied copy editor; Myriam, a redhead into tantric sex; and Marie, a supermarket checker who gives unauthorized discounts to the elderly, search for renewed meaning on a communal farm. The title character, a six-year-old child, is the carrier of their hopes for the future"

2.1 Alecto (unceasing)
2.2 Megaera (grudging)
2.3 Tisiphone (avenging murder)

There are three mysterious female charactes in MUANG NAI MORK (1978, Permpol Choei-aroon). These three female characters remind me of two groups of Greek goddesses. They are

ART INSPIRED BY ART
The Issue 28 of FUSE, a Thai film magazine, is available now. It has an interview of Tossapol Boonsinsukh, and he mentioned my name in his interview. I am very glad. :-)
http://fuseblog.exteen.com/20090504/entry-1
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3634/3500472475_5980e1a07f_o.jpg
Tossapol has finished a new project called SHE IS READING NEWSPAPER (2008-2009). It is an amazing project and connects with many art forms. If you can read Thai, you can enjoy his project in the link below:
http://yrna.wordpress.com/%e0%b8%8a%e0%b8%b1%e0%b9%89%e0%b8%99%e0%b8%aa%e0%b8%ad%e0%b8%87/
If you can’t read Thai, I will try to translate something about this project. It has many steps as follows:
1.SHE IS READING NEWSPAPER (2005, Tossapol Boonsinsukh, short film, A+)
This short film is about the transference of feelings from one person to another person.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWwOcpknjLA
2.Pichit Trairutsakul (Tim, the drummer) and Pinyo Limpongsathorn (Yo, the guitarist) made some drum and guitar music inspired by the short film above.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JsmMvMyghvs
3.Tanapol Virulhakul made a piece of performance art inspired by the drum and guitar music above. (Tanapol is the director of BUD-DHA-KALA, a mockumentary which I like very much.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1hIZdJEZQE
4.Patavee Viranuvat and Tip-apa Songsettakit made a piece of piano music inspired by the performance of Tanapol.
You can listen to the piano music here:
http://www.imeem.com/people/EPpeH3W/music/pCi5KRci/viji-and-thip-she-is-reading-newspaper-sound-of-piano/
(Patavee is also a short film director. He directed TAKESHI (2005) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqX0hC9TDGU)
5.Theepisit Mahaneeranon wrote a poem inspired by the piano music. You can read the English poem here:
http://yrna.wordpress.com/%e0%b8%8a%e0%b8%b1%e0%b9%89%e0%b8%99%e0%b8%aa%e0%b8%ad%e0%b8%87/
(Theepisit directed some short films, including CLOUD (2008, A) and CENSORSHIT! FATHER AND SON (2007).)
6.Wanweaw Hongwiwat wrote a cartoon inspired by Theepisit’s poem. You can see her cartoon here:
http://yrna.wordpress.com/%e0%b8%8a%e0%b8%b1%e0%b9%89%e0%b8%99%e0%b8%aa%e0%b8%ad%e0%b8%87/
You can watch her drawing cartoon here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0IejMutq3I
(Wanweaw is also a film director. Her films include APPLICATION (2007, A+/A))
7.Muttana Cheuweerachon (Neung), who is Tossapol’s girlfriend, looked at Wanweaw’s cartoon, then cooked some food for Tossapol.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RJp58Rlgas
--I watched the performance of Tanapol three times. First, I watched it without sound, then I watched it while simultaneously listening to the drum and guitar music, and then I watched it while listening to the piano music. I like the second time the most.
--I think this kind of “art inspired by art” is very interesting. Maybe this is a kind of LIMITLESS CINEMA. This kind of things reminds me of:
1.The common form of it may be movie posters inspired by movies.
2.Some painters are inspired by films and filmmakers, such as Kirsten Everberg, who seems to be inspired by Andrei Tarkovsky.
http://www.artnet.com/artist/423916991/kirsten-everberg.html
3.The spontaneous performance of Dujdao Vadhanakorn in MEMOMENT (2009). Her performance seemed to be instantly inspired by the music of a band called “The Cucumber the Killer” and the film of Manussa Vorasingha, which was shown simultaneously on the wall behind her performance space.
4.The project FROM (DIFFERENT) HORIZONS OF ROCKSHELTER: BREAKING THROUGH THE LINES OF ARCHAEOLOGICAL METHODS, PHRASES IN ANTHROPOLOGY, AND MYTHS IN ARTS (2008)
This project used an anthropological and archaeological event—the discovery of an ancient culture in a rural area in Thailand—to inspire some artists to make different forms of art works, including photography, performance, sculpture, installation, drawings, paintings, and a documentary.
http://celinejulie.blogspot.com/2008/09/from-differen-horizons-of-rockshelter.html
5.BANYAN PROJECT, which has something very similar to SHE IS READING NEWSPAPER PROJECT, because in BANYAN PROJECT, an art work made by the first artist will inspire the second artist to create a different art work, and the second art work will inspire the third artist to create another different art work, and so on…
http://www.banyan-project.de/
6.Video responses, which may include:
6.1 TWO WORLDS IN ONE WORLD (2004, Prap Boonpan, A+)
I guess Prap made this film to respond to THE SIAM RENAISSANCE (2004, Surapong Pinijkhar, A+)
6.2 REMAKE-ABLE PROJECT, which had many Thai directors remake films made by other Thai directors, or make new films inspired by the old ones. This project includes
6.2.1 Nawapol Thamrongrattanarit made LIFE IS SHORT 2 (2008, A-), inspired by Tossapol Boonsinsukh’s film.
6.2.2 Winai Kitcharoen made THE NIGHT SHE LOST (2008, A-), inspired by DEK LONG (Tanwarin Sukhapisit, A-)
6.2.3 Chakorn Chaipreecha made THE TIME OF UNHAPPINESS (2008, A-), inspired by THE TIME OF HAPPINESS (Patchara Eaimtrakul, B+ )
6.2.4 Tanwarin Sukhapisit made PENGUIN (2008, A-), inspired by Nawapol’s film.
6.2.5 Patchara Eaimtrakul made MAI PAI RANGSIT (2008, A), inspired by MAI PAI RANGSIT (RANGSIT LOVE STORY) (2006, Chakorn Chaipreecha, A+)
6.2.6 Theepisit Mahaneeranon made CLOUD (2008, A), inspired by MY SWEET CLOUD (2008, Winai Kitcharoen, A-)
6.2.7 Tossapol Boonsinsukh made SAEN NAN (SO LONG) (2008, A), inspired by TEXAS SOMYOT MASSACRE: ULTIMATE WEAPON (2006, Nathan Homsup + Dhan Lhaow). This is the weirdest, because SAEN NAN seems to have no connection with TEXAS SOMYOT MASSACRE at all.
6.2.8 Professional Dry Cleaner (which includes Nathan Homsup and Dhan Lhaow) made CENSORSHIT! FATHER AND SON (2008, A+), inspired by CENSORSHIT! FATHER AND SON (2007, Theepisit Mahaneeranon).
6.3 Video letters between Wiwat Lertwiwatwongsa and Nok Paksnavin
6.3.1 FROM SHUMAN TO PARISUTH: HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF (2009)

6.3.2 FROM PARISUTH TO SHUMAN: ENDING THE ENDLESS (2009)

POLL 54: IN THE NAME OF THE FILM
My poll 54 is inspired by the latest videos of Araya Rasdjarmrearnsook. I love both her videos, and their long, unique titles. You can see the titles of her six latest videos here:
http://celinejulie.blogspot.com/2009/04/araya-rasdjarmrearnsooks-partial.html
I think some film titles lack imagination, such as GHOST, GHOSTS, THE GHOST, A GHOST, or something like that; or LOVE LETTER, LOVE LETTERS, THE LOVE LETTER, or something like that. These film titles make it very difficult to search for its information on the internet.
I also have problems remembering which Yasujiro Ozu’s films I have seen. Have I seen EARLY SPRING, or EARLY SUMMER, or THE END OF SUMMER, or LATE AUTUMN, or LATE SPRING?
Araya’s film titles inspire me to make a list of these film titles that I like.
I LOVE THESE FILMS AND THEIR TITLES. WHICH FILM TITLES DO YOU LIKE?
1.ALICE DOESN'T LIVE HERE ANY MORE (1974, Martin Scorsese, USA)
2.CELINE AND JULIE GO BOATING (1974, Jacques Rivette, France)
3.A CONFUCIAN CONFUSION (1994, Edward Yang, Taiwan)
4.DON'T USE MICROWAVE TO WARM EGGS OR ELSE THEY WILL EXPLODE! (2005, Tossapol Boonsinsukh, Thailand)
5.THE DUMB DIE FAST, THE SMART DIE SLOW (1991, Manop Udomdej, Thailand)
6.GARM (LUST) (กาม) (1978, Prince Chatrichalerm Yukol, Thailand)
7.THE GOALIE'S ANXIETY AT THE PENALTY KICK (1971, Wim Wenders, West Germany)
8.IN THIS CIRCUMSTANCE, THE SOLE OBJECT OF ATTENTION SHOULD BE THE TREACHERY OF THE MOON (2009, Araya Rasdjarmrearnsook, Thailand)
9.JEANNE DIELMAN, 23 QUAI DU COMMERCE, 1080 BRUXELLES (1975, Chantal Akerman, Belgium)
10.JOAN OF ARC OF MONGOLIA (1989, Ulrike Ottinger, West Germany)
11.THE LAST TIME I COMMITTED SUICIDE (1996, Stephen Kay, USA)
12.LIFE AS A FATAL SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASE (2000, Krzysztof Zanussi, Poland)
13.LOVE IS COLDER THAN DEATH (1969, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, West Germany)
14.THE POSITIVELY TRUE ADVENTURES OF THE ALLEGED TEXAS CHEERLEADER-MURDERING MOM (1993, Michael Ritchie, USA)
15.PRENOM CARMEN (1983, Jean-Luc Godard, France)
I think it is very interesting that the word PRENOM here can mean both FIRST NAME and BEFORE THE NAME.
16.THE SECOND AWAKENING OF CHRISTA KLAGES (1978, Margarethe von Trotta, West Germany)
17.UNPRONOUNCABLE IN THE LINGUISTIC IMPERIALISM OF YOURS (2008, Ratchapoom Boonbunchachoke, Thailand)
18.WHEN A WOMAN ASCENDS THE STAIRS (1960, Mikio Naruse, Japan)
19.WHO WISHES TO REPRESENT AN ANGEL, MAKES A BEAST (2007, Christine Laquet, video installation)
20.YESTERDAY'S TOMORROW (1978, Wolfgang Staudte, West Germany)
I saw this film many years ago, but I am still not sure if the film title means YESTERDAY IS TOMORROW or THE TOMORROW OF YESTERDAY. I guess it is the latter. The storytelling in this film jumps back and forth between time, so I think this film title really suits the film.
The German title of this film is ZWISCHENGLEIS, and sometimes this film is titled THE MIDDLE RAIL.
You can cast multiple votes.
Apart from the 20 titles above, I also love the following films and their titles:
21.THE ALL-ROUND REDUCED PERSONALITY – REDUPERS (1977, Helke Sander, West Germany)
22.ARTISTES AT THE TOP OF THE BIG TOP: DISORIENTATED (1968, Alexander Kluge, West Germany)
23.THE DISCREET CHARM OF THE BOURGEOISIE (1972, Luis Bunuel, France)
24.EVERY MAN FOR HIMSELF AND GOD AGAINST ALL (1974, Werner Herzog, West Germany)
25.THE FUTURE IS NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE (2002, Mika Taanila, Finland)
26.LET'S SCARE JESSICA TO DEATH (1971, John D. Hancock, USA)
27.THE MURDERERS ARE AMONG US (1946, Wolfgang Staudte, Germany)
28.ONCE YOU'RE BORN YOU CAN NO LONGER HIDE (2005, Marco Tullio Giordana, Italy)
29.WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN (1988, Pedro Almodovar, Spain)
I also love the following film titles because the films show the opposite of the titles:
30.LE BONHEUR (1965, Agnes Varda, France)
31.LIFE IS A LONG QUIET RIVER (1988, Etienne Chatiliez, France)
32.THINGS YOU CAN TELL JUST BY LOOKING AT HER (2000, Rodrigo Garcia)
--There are many Thai films which I haven’t seen, but I found their titles very interesting. These Thai films include:
(The English titles below are not official English titles. I just tried to translate their titles from the Thai ones.)
1.CAPTIVE HUSBAND (ผัวเชลย) (1985, Permpol Choei-aroon)
Starring Mai Charoenpura
2.EMOTION MARKET (ตลาดอารมณ์) (1988, Suwit Chutipong) starring Nataya Dangbu-nga

16.MARY JANE HARPER CRIED LAST NIGHT
The Thai title of this film can be literally translated as SHE CRIED LAST NIGHT, but the website Thaifilmdb.com lists the English title of this film as MARY JANE HARPER CRIED LAST NIGHT. So I guess this film may be adapted from MARY JANE HARPER CRIED LAST NIGHT (1977, Allen Reisner, USA).
17.OUTSIDER HUSBAND (ผัวนอกคอก) (1980, Samarn Thongsupsin)
Starring Wasana Sittiwate

31.LIFE IS A LONG QUIET RIVER (1988, Etienne Chatiliez, France)
32.THINGS YOU CAN TELL JUST BY LOOKING AT HER (2000, Rodrigo Garcia)

BORROWERS OF THE BANK OF AGRICULTURE (ลูกหนี้ธ.ก.
You can listen to this song here:
http://www.esnips.com/doc/fbff77f4-393f-421e-a113-649abfcf2db2/ลูกหนี้-ธ.ก.ส.
This is the lyrics of the song translated by me:
BOA Bank of Agriculture
We, the farmers, can depend on it
We can get a mortgage on our own land and rice field
So that we can get the money flow
To be in debt is an ordinary thing
It’s not a shame at all to have debts
We still visit each other
We don’t look down on those who have debts
Look around you, they are all the borrowers of BOA
Thank you Thank you Thank you BOA
You are the saint You are the saviour You are so kind You are noble
Every member of the poor
You can borrow as much as you can
Contact BOA, so that it can help us
BOA Bank of Agriculture
Very reliable bank
This bank is always there for us
Whenever we are broke
We use our title deed as collateral
Whenever we have money
We pay our debts to BOA

JE SUIS D'UNE GENERATION DESENCHANTEE
I love the music video DESENCHANTEE by Mylene Farmer. It is directed by Laurent Boutonnat. This music video made me cry, especially the scene in which the child massacred the guards.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGxPrIhs4Lo
This is the lyrics:
“Nager dans les eaux troubles
Des lendemains
Attendre ici la fin
Flotter dans l´air trop lourd
Du presque rien
A qui tendre la main
Si je dois tomber de haut
Que ma chute soit lente
Je n´ai trouvé de repos
Que dans l´indifférence
Pourtant, je voudrais retrouver l´innocence
Mais rien n´a de sens, et rien ne va
Tout est chaos
A côté
Tous mes idéaux : des mots
Abimés...
Je cherche une âme, qui
Pourra m´aider
Je suis
D´une géneration désenchantée,
Désenchantée
Qui pourrait m´empêcher
De tout entendre
Quand la raison s´effondre
A quel sein se vouer
Qui peut prétendre
Nous bercer dans son ventre
Si la mort est un mystère
La vie n´a rien de tendre
Si le ciel a un enfer
Le ciel peut bien m´attendre
Dis moi,
This is the lyrics translated by Google:
“Swimming in troubled waters
Tomorrow
Wait by the end
Floating in the air too heavy
Of almost nothing
Who reach out
If I do get high
May my fall be slow
I have found rest
That the indifference
However, I would like to regain innocence
But nothing has meaning, and nothing will
Everything is chaos
Next
All my ideals: words
Damaged ...
I am looking for a soul, which
May help
I am
In a disenchanted generation,
Disenchanted
Who could help but
Hear any
When reason collapses
How to turn within
Who can claim
We rocked in her belly
If death is a mystery
Life is not soft
If Heaven has a hell
The sky may well expect
Tell me,
In these headwinds how
Nothing has meaning, nothing does.”

This is the lyrics:
“Nager dans les eaux troubles
Des lendemains
Attendre ici la fin
Flotter dans l´air trop lourd
Du presque rien
A qui tendre la main
Si je dois tomber de haut
Que ma chute soit lente
Je n´ai trouvé de repos
Que dans l´indifférence
Pourtant, je voudrais retrouver l´innocence
Mais rien n´a de sens, et rien ne va
Tout est chaos
A côté
Tous mes idéaux : des mots
Abimés...
Je cherche une âme, qui
Pourra m´aider
Je suis
D´une géneration désenchantée,
Désenchantée
Qui pourrait m´empêcher
De tout entendre
Quand la raison s´effondre
A quel sein se vouer
Qui peut prétendre

CUTE ACTOR: PAOTONG TONGJEUA
This is my comment in Screenout Webboard:

ตอบน้อง PasSaKorn
การชอบดูก้นสวยๆของผู้ชายถือเป็นเรื่องปกติค่ะ
เคยดู SHORTBUS ไปเมื่อปี 2007 ค่ะ แต่จำเนื้อเรื่องไม่ได้แล้ว จำได้แต่ว่าชอบบทของสาวเกาหลีในเรื่องนี้
ตอบน้อง Black Forest
A Thai actor whose look I like very much is Paotong Tongjuea, who stars in CHAN POOCHAY NAYA (1987, M.L. Bhandevanop Devakul, A+)

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3649/3459661630_efdc02321c_o.jpg
Desirable actors
1.Masanobu Ando – FOREVER ENTHRALLED (2008, Chen Kaige, A+)
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3530/3459679234_d89e68877f_o.jpg
2.Shim Ji-ho (Seung Gi) – A FROZEN FLOWER (2008, Ha Yu, A+/A)

3.Yoo Ah-in – ANTIQUE (2008, Min Kyu-dong, A+)
He looks very young in the photo, but actually he was born in 1986.

--I’m very glad that Marguerite Duras won the most votes. Thanks to Zach, I just watched BAXTER, VERA BAXTER (1977, Marguerite Duras, A+). I only understand 10 % of the film, because the film is in French with Spanish subtitles, but I still like it very much. The images in this film are very captivating for me, though in a lesser degree than INDIA SONG, NATHALIE GRANGER, and AGATHA AND HER UNLIMITED READINGS.
The use of soundtrack in this film is very interesting, too. We seem to hear the sound of a local festival intruding into the film space, but we only see the empty beach. We never see the festival. The using of sound of offscreen source reminds me the beggar woman in INDIA SONG, and the festival which occurs offscreen also reminds me of ABIGAIL’S PARTY (1977, Mike Leigh, A+).
I also like what Delphine Seyrig said something about death near the end of this film.
--One thing which I like very much in IN THE POOL OF STILL WATER, THERE IS A YEARNING FOR THE TORRENTIAL FLOW OF THE BIG RIVER (2009, Araya Rasdjarmrearnsook, A+) is that it reminds me of a small problem in my life. Maybe Araya didn’t intend to cause this effect to the viewer, but this film makes me think about the problem of how to balance between the time I spend with myself and the time I spend communicating with other people, such as playing Facebook, writing this blog, and reading other people’s blogs.
When I spend time with myself, such as watching DVDs alone, reading a magazine alone, listening to CDs alone, I feel very happy. It is a peaceful kind of happiness. Maybe this is like the pool of still water. But sometimes I also want to communicate with other people. When I talk to my friends, I’m happy. It is an exciting kind of happiness.Maybe this is like “yearning for the torrential flow of the big river”.
But sometimes I couldn’t control the balance. Sometimes I spend too much time playing the internet until I don’t get enough sleep. Sometimes I spend too much time thinking about something in the internet until I can’t focus on my work. I think I have to control this kind of yearning.

WISH LIST FOR JANUARY 2009 (FULL VERSION)
A.FILM WISH LIST (most of them from Rotterdam International Film Festival)
1.THE ANNIVERSARY GIFT (2008, Paul Agusta, Indonesia, 72 min)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQTu1BCQFnA
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1347052/
“A young man wakes up chained to metal chair in a room painted a sickening shade of pink and illuminated by a single blinding block of neon lights placed at his right. A razor blade hangs on a string before him, and sharp pink pencils are aimed at his left eye and stomach. He does not know where he is or why he is there. Periodically, a beautiful young woman dressed in floral summer dress enters the room and performs cruel and calculated acts of seemingly senseless torture. Who is she? Why is she doing this? What has he done to deserve this? And most importantly, will he survive?”
2.BE GOOD (SOIS SAGE) (2008, Juliette Garcias, France)

http://www.volyafilms.nl/main/films/Nakhsho.html
“Through the story of a wounded water buffalo we look at the Armenian-Azerbeidzjanian war with the eyes of the innocent. A universal tale told in a poetical way, against the backdrop of rural Armenia.”
4.THE DEAD GIRL’S FEAST (2009, Meathus Nachtergaele, Mexico)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74hgxdX-jhw
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3567/3449739797_f731bbaa95.jpg
5.EXHAUSTED (2009, Kim Gok, South Korea)

“Michael Hanake meets the Blair Witch Project in Kim Gok's Exhausted, a vicious kick in the pants to everyone in the audience, all in the name of "style." A man meets a mute woman, and as any reasonable person would do in such a situation, makes her his prostitute. But the pimping is the least of our problems. As we get exhausted by the grainy faux-16mm camerawork, the film gets increasingly deranged.”

6.FIXER: THE TAKING OF AJMAL NAQSHBANDI (2009, Ian Olds, USA, documentary)
http://www.fixerdoc.com/
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1372256/
“In 2007, the Taliban kidnapped 24-year-old Ajmal Naqshbandi and an Italian journalist. Naqshbandi was one of Afghanistan's best "fixers" -- someone hired by foreign journalists to facilitate, translate, and gain access for their stories”
7.GULABI TALKIES (2008, Girish Kasaravalli, India, 122 min)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gulabi_Talkies
“The film is set in the late 1990s among the fishing communities around Kundapura, in the southwestern Indian state of Karnataka. The impulsive midwife Gulabi (Umashree) is the protagonist, whose one passion is the cinema. She leads a lonely life in an island inhabited by fisher folk. Her husband Musa (K.G. Krishna Murthy), a small-time fish-selling agent, has deserted her and is living happily with his second wife Kunjipathu and their child Adda.
A family gifts her a television with a satellite dish antenna in gratitude after she attends to a difficult delivery (for which they even had to bodily remove her from a movie theatre). The arrival of the first color TV in her small island village heralds great changes in the sleepy hamlet. The women in the village begin gathering at her house once the men leave for fishing. But a few of them stay away, since Gulabi is one of the few Muslims in the village. Yet others prefer to watch from outside her shack, without entering it.”

SOPHIE CALLE
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sophie_Calle
“Sophie Calle (born 1953) is a French writer, photographer, installation artist, and conceptual artist. Calle's work is distinguished by its use of arbitrary sets of constraints, and evokes the French literary movement of the 1960s known as Oulipo. Her work frequently depicts human vulnerability, and examines identity and intimacy. She is recognized for her detective-like ability to follow strangers and investigate their private lives. Her photographic work often includes panels of text of her own writing.
”
“In Suite Venitienne (1979), Calle followed a man she met at a party in Paris to Venice, where she disguised herself and followed him around the city, photographing him. Calle’s surveillance of the man, who she identifies only as Henri B., includes photographs accompanied by text”
“Another project, Detective (1980), consisted of Calle being followed for a day by a private detective, who had been hired (at Calle's request) by her mother. Calle proceeded to lead the unwitting detective around parts of Paris that were particularly important for her, thereby reversing the expected position of the observed subject”
